CHARLOTT MARKUS

builds still lives and setups that give rise to photo series and spatial installations. Her work can be described as “extended still-lifes”. She explores the possibilities and limitations of the still life in order to create new stories and meanings. With theatrical means, Markus creates alternative spaces with her work where the boundaries between photography and sculpture intertwine, focusing on the detail while not losing sight of the big picture. Her working method is not purely about form, space and color, but is also a subcutaneous investigation into social relationships and structures, regularly mixed with her own history.
