GAR DOME Photograph, Archival ink on Canvas Three panels, total size 215 cm x 280 cm (xx inch x xx inch) The Chicago Cultural Centre is dominated by the Memorial Hall of the Grand Army of the Republic, roofed by an extremely large stained glass Tiffany dome. A fifty years ago, a copper protection dome is placed over this fragile piece of art. The photograph shows the topside of the huge Tiffany Dome in the GAR memorial Hall. It is placed in the centre arch, in the wall underneath the dome. The photograph is purchased by the city of Chicago. |
LANDING Photograph, Archival pigment ink on canvas Two panels, total size 225 cm x 180 cm (87 inch x 72 inch) A photograph, representing a small detail of the space, is printed on the same scale as the actual space. The detail is presented as an extension of the actual space, exactly on the spot, where in the past there must have been a passage to the floor. |
ABOVE THE CEILING Photograph, archival pigment ink on canvas Two panels, total size 210 cm x 168 cm (84 inch x 61 inch) In the hallway to the major gallery of the Cultural Centre, a strange long display window shows nothing but the bare wall. To respond to this strange artifact, a photograph is installed, representing the crawling space between the ceiling of the decorated ceiling in the gallery and the actual roof of the building. |
