The Former Navy Wharf in the city of Den Helder> is founded in 1821 by Napoleon Bonaparte. In a sturdy looking building at the end of the dock, the original steam pump was located. As reference to the former function of this building, two photographs are installed.

In one room, a photograph is showing the original pump holes, that is now covered with mud and water, underneath the building. The photograph in the other room shows the interior of the dock’s door, a space that is not accessible to the public. The two photographs show different aspects as the dynamics of industry and contemplation of the past
