The architecture of the platforms was plain and monotonous. The cells were gathered around small squares, where the detainees were allowed to spend time during parts of the day.

Roaming the place, there were no traaes of the inmates visible, until I entered the cells. Above each mattrass, a bulletin board was mounted. There were many drawings on these boards, often worked on by multiple succesive people that slept on the bed underneath. To my surprise many of the boards have a personal a personal character, as a conscious collaboration.

On the spot I decided to document these drawings as much as possible, which created a strange kind of collectionof artworks that I titled "4.5 Square Feet of Frredom"
